Herbal First Aid Kit

Instructor: Henrietta Cummings

Join Henrietta Cummings, local herbalist and herb farmer, for a hands-on and discussion on a herbs for first aid workshop. We will make poultices, compresses, essential oil blends in carrier oil preparations for first aid and much more, while we discuss traditional first aid from multiple cultures and learn what herbs and herbal preparations to include in your first aid kit/apothecary, both at home and while away from home. During the workshop, we will walk to nearby local plants that can be used while out and about when first aid is needed, and also can be harvested to make preparations for your first aid apothecary.


Knife, Hatchet, Saw: The 3 most essential tools for Bushcraft & their many uses

Join bushcrafters Ben and Harvey Harman for a hands-on workshop that builds confidence, self-reliance, and a deeper connection with nature. Using three essential tools—a knife, hatchet/ax, and foldable saw—you’ll learn how to select, maintain, and safely use them for rustic camping or everyday preparedness. Practice skills like making fire starters, building simple furniture and shelter, preparing food, and crafting everyday items. Rediscover traditional knowledge for thriving in the wild and being ready for any situation.

Lunch is included! A key part of the Folk School is community, and sharing a meal is one of the best ways we know of to get to know one another and build community. There are always plenty of options to suit various dietary needs, including gluten free, dairy free, meat free, vegan. If you have particular dietary restrictions that you’d like to share with us, of course just send us a message so that we can be aware of your need so that we can be sure to accommodate it or communicated clearly with you if we think we cannot.

Basic Leatherwork

Instructor: Faith Eyler

Join leathercraft artisan Faith Eyler for a fun, hands-on workshop exploring the art of making useful leather items. Learn about leather types, cutting, stitching, storage, and care—plus why these basic skills are so valuable. After a demo and discussion, you'll craft your own item: choose a small tool bag, belt pouch, or knife sheath (for a fixed 4" blade). Bring any leather tools you have—no experience needed!
