Green Woodworking

Techniques and Tools for Harvesting, Splitting, and Shaping Green Wood

with Mozzy Marzano & Ben Harman

Step into the world of Green Wood, a centuries-old craft that swaps the roar of machinery for the quiet, rhythmic sweep of hand tools. This introductory workshop is a deep dive into the Slöjd tradition—a Scandinavian philosophy of handcraft that emphasizes a direct, personal connection to natural materials and a focus on self-reliance.

By the end of the session, we will have transformed a raw piece of wood into a functional, hand-carved kitchen essential like a wooden spoon, butter spreader, chopstick, or spatula.

This workshop is more than just a skill-building class; it is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with the forest, and master the "new wood culture" through traditional handcraft. No previous experience is required, though a basic level of hand strength, a sharp knife, and a love for the outdoors are recommended.

  • Join us for lunch (included), from noon-1pm

  • All materials are included.

  • This workshop is eligible for use with a season pass.

  • Youth under 18 may attend free with an adult registered for the same workshop (1 youth per adult).

  • Early-bird pricing ($55) is available through July 4. After that, the cost is $75.
