Carving a Walking Stick

Learn the basics of whittling a walking stick during an enjoyable and relaxing afternoon of creating sawdust, making friends, and crafting a nice walking stick. Bring a knife if you have one. Extra knives will be available and a stick/sapling for you to choose to whittle will also be provided. We will cover knife safety, basic carving techniques, and suggestions for specific tools, which will be provided for use as well. We will cover how to pick out a good stick, different types of woods and their various unique properties, ways to embellish or add decorative additions to your walking stick, and the value of making functional items by hand.
