Alternative Transportation
All about bikes, ebikes, and peddle powered transportation
No form of transportation is more energy efficient than the bicycle. Join Sheldon Herman and the folks from bikewalla for a hands-on afternoon of all things bikes. The workshop will include a look at the different kinds of bikes available and why you might choose one type of bike over another. It will also include hands-on experience doing the most common bike maintenance and repair tasks. The workshop will also explore the many reasons to use bicycles including reducing transportation costs and pollution, decreased dependence on fossil fuels, better health, additional recreational opportunities, and ability to spend more time outdoors. We will also discuss bike safety and bike advocacy. And we will look at opportunities to extend bike usefulness through simple add-ons or extensions. Finally we will cover the growing interest in and use of ebikes, the three classes of ebikes, and the additional options that ebikes provide.
