Herb Day: Making Herbal Oils & Salves

Discover the art of creating therapeutic herbal oils and salves in this practical workshop. You'll learn about extraction methods, explore which herbs work best for topical applications, and understand a bit of the science behind oil-based preparations. We'll cover the essential steps for transforming your infused oils into healing salves.

You'll craft your own herbal oil and salve to take home, plus receive guides and recipes to follow at home. We'll also discuss storage, shelf life, and safety considerations for topical herbal preparations. Perfect for anyone wanting to create natural skincare and wellness products to care for their family!

  • Join us for lunch (included) from noon-1pm

  • All workshop materials are included.

  • This workshop is eligible for use with a season pass.

  • Youth, under 18, may attend free with an adult (1 youth per adult)

  • Early-bird pricing ($55) is available through Sept 5. After that, the cost is $75.

Meet Your Instructor: Lea Clayton

Lea Clayton, LMBT, BCPP is a clinical herbalist, an NC licensed massage & bodywork therapist & a board certified Polarity Therapist (LMBT#5134, BCPP.) She has been in bodywork practice since 2004 & clinical herb practice since 2018. She began her herbalism education in 2003 as an apprentice to local wise woman herbalist Suki Roth and worked under her for 8 years. She has also completed a 4-year clinical herbal training with David Winston, Registered Herbalist AHG.

As an herbalist she both consults individually and offers group classes in botanical medicine.  She grows and wildcrafts herbs, makes medicine and maintains a small (but awesome!) herbal apothecary at RiverSong Farm, her home in Saxapahaw.
